Hardwood Duck Decoys
June 29,2018
7 of these carvings sold at the Forest Landowners Association fundraising auction for a total of $4,475.00.
This money will to support the forest and the people own the forestland.
In the past 10 years I have ‘returned to my roots’, in a way. My great-grandfather made fine early American furniture in the 1840’s, then my father did restoration of antique furniture and so did I several years ago.
Lately I have been carving decoys from native hardwoods. Indiana has some of the finest hardwoods in the world and I only select pieces that are unique, fabulous, figured woods. Where do these rare woods come from? Anywhere I can find them. Take a peek at some of my decoys carved from fancy woods gleaned from logging and firewood.
