Bundy Duck Carvings | ||
How We Get Our Ducks In A Row. We start with white cedar logs, which we haul ourselves from the North Woods. Our son Jason is the first Bundy
to work these logs. He de-barks each log – removing sand and grit to help keep bandsaw blades sharp longer.
After 24 years his eye is well practiced at cutting and trimming block. He keeps a supply of block in the various sizes
needed on hand at all times. The wood does need to dry well, so stages in the process are important, that way we
always have dry wood to work with. Bandsaws, carvers, sanders, handwork, more sanding, more handwork, color room,
more handwork, spraying finish, on and on. We choose the fanciest grain patterns for our Classic Line. Valarie colors
each duck just as she pleases. The color is life to the piece! Logs with less Wow Factor we work up for our Country Line.
We use a Back to Nature Approach with soft color shadings that reflect the live ducks’ own plumage colors. Our customer’s praise of Bundy Carvings helps keep us moving forward to carve the next decoy. “Truly an awesome
piece of artwork”, an email quote from a satisfied customer.
“No one and I do mean NO ONE in the world can get a finish that even approaches yours”, Billy G., American Wood
Finishing Institute. You are at the beginning of your discovery of Bundy Ducks, happy journey to you and remember-creative process never stops,
so visit us often for new magic. | ||
